Pan-Asia Students Receive Medals at GENIUS Olympiad

The Pan Asia International School of Thailand makes headline winning medals at the recently concluded Genius Olympiad held at the Suny Oswego in New York, USA last June 14-?, 2018.

The 13-member team finished with 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze and 1 honorable mention. The tandem of Grade 10 Mouhiba Akbarali and Firnas Asmi Tajudeen bags the lone gold medal in Business with their project “Go Edible”. Grade 11 Mohammed Hibban Mohammed Moosa and Grade 10 Muadh Omer Thaika grabs the silver medal in Business with their project MH Builders.

The PAIS student delegation added three more bronze medals courtesy of Safa Ershad Sheik and Ahmed Suhel Sirkhot in Sciencewith their project “An Empirical Research on the Measurement  of Differential Amplitude Longitudinal Waves with Cement, clay , Peat and Sand”.

Roetainata Charoonkolrak and Varintorn Ruttanatharakul grabs another bronze, also in Science, with the project about “Investigation on Biodegradation of Plastic Wastes using Ziphobas Morio and Fallera Mellonella” and Nurbanu Abish and Pimchanok Payungwataseth in Robotics. Saruda Ngamkhanong gets an honorable mention in Business with her project about recycling, Ehope. Chalermsub Thamrongchaiworakun of Grade 7 represented the school in the video making competition and Esra Tasdemir of G11 completed the school representatives with her entry in Business Category.

Bamboo also represented Thailand during the opening ceremony of the competition.

The 5- medal haul plus the honorable mention was a big improvement from last year when the school had an honorable mention courtesy of Bareera Ismail Mohamed Ismail Faiz.

The Genius Olympiad is an annual high school project competition regarding environmental issues.

The Pan Asia delegation has some time to spare after the competition. They went to see Niagara Falls, Manhattan, Lake Ontario, Brooklyn, Statue of Liberty , Ellis Island and  some federal buildings around New York.
