kindergarten introduction

Welcome to the Kindergarten at Pan-Asia International School.

The early years are without a doubt the most important part of a child’s school life – and at Pan-Asia International School Kindergarten, we aim to channel each child's natural enthusiasm into a genuine and life-long passion for learning.

With over one hundred students in our classes, the kindergarten is a rapidly growing department in a thriving school. We have eight classes, each with an average of thirteen children in them. They are: Pre-Nursery, staffed with a teacher and two nannies, for our youngest two to three year old students. Children then move to our Kindergarten One classrooms, of which there are two. These classes are staffed by a teacher, a teaching assistant and a nanny. Following on from here are two Kindergarten Two classes, with the same level of staffing. Finally, and in response to our rapid growth, we have three Kindergarten Three classes. Each of these has a teacher and a teaching Assistant dedicated to them.

We work within a child-centered philosophy and deliver out curriculum through a classic early years model based on theme work. We progress through seven themes throughout the course of the year. They are: “Me, My Family, My Friends”,  “Things and Places Around Us”, “Plants and Animals”, “Earth”, “Health and Environment”, “Sky”, and “Seasons and Climate”.

As you can see, the curriculum starts from a focus on the individual child, their family and friends and throughout the year extends into more general areas, extending the range and depth of children’s knowledge, skills and understanding. The thematic focus is underpinned by specific, targeted studies in language arts and mathematics. Wider bodies of knowledge are introduced by studies in Thai language and culture, Arabic, physical education including swimming, and music. At the end of each theme, parents are invited into school to take part in our celebrations of learning. For example, the theme “Sky” was celebrated through the spectacle of Kite Day, in which students made and flew their kites, as well as a whole Kindergarten study trip to a planetarium.

The whole child is the focus of the Kindergarten. The individual is cherished and guided towards academic, moral, and social development within a context of supportive and caring staff whose philosophy and goals reflect the needs of the child as their central concern. Challenging young, enquiring minds to fulfill their true potential, through a broad and balanced education, we make learning fun and promote positive discipline based on praise and reward.

Already well resourced and set in a self contained early years environment with top class outdoor play equipment, the Kindergarten at Pan-Asia International School is preparing to move to a new, purpose built building. This move is necessary because of increasing numbers of parents choosing Pan-Asia Kindergarten as partners in starting the journey of the development of knowledge, skills and understanding, of joy and celebration, which forms a solid base for life long learning.
